Nest Platter

I have had some fun

This summer

With making things

Out of Nests!

But not real nests because I got one from the yard...a Robin's nest
And as I was carrying it to the house, I noticed that my hands were full of crawling mites! Don't you know I put that down fast and ran for the hose to wash off!

In a post HERE, I showed you how I made this picture out of a ladle and cookie cutters...
Another was a quick bit of whimsy using an egg and a vintage tea strainer...
Then I was inspired to make this from a picture off Pinterest...

All I did was wrap twine around the platter and hot glued the nest on top of the twine. Simple!
What have you made from Pinterest lately?

  2. Here's what I have done with real nests. I have a soft spot in my heart for collecting real nests and decorating with them. I find them everywhere it seems! :) I always leave them outside for a day or so, but I spray them with hairspray to kill the mites. It has always worked for me.
    I love your ideas too!!
I painted my dad's old wooden tool box white, that he made, and it's filled with real nests and some real eggs that I found in the yard. Of course I have fake eggs in there too, but it really is nice looking at that old wooden tool box filled with nests and eggs. It sits right smack dab in the middle of my dining table! (By the way, I painted that dining table and chairs white too and I can't believe how nice it looks. (My first attempt!)

  3. I am in love with birds, bird nests, bird cages, my house is full! Your ideas for the bird nests are wonderful, and I intend to change some things around and copy your ideas. If you find another nest and want to keep it, place it in a plastic bag, seal it well, and keep it in the freezer for two weeks and all the creepy crawlies will be dead. Just saying......
